In the physical edition of the 70s issue we spoke about the Pepsi Throwback campaign, in which it was made to resemble an television ad from the 70s. However, we unfortunately do not have links with Adobe at this time and were therefore unable to show it to you in the zine But hey, that's what the online addition is all about - getting around the little annoyances that restrict us in the physical zine. So here we have it the Pepsi Throwback commercial - Enjoy!

PATTERNITY
We heart Patternity. Patternity is a very gorgeous ball of confusion. It is a London based company that specialises as a resource for all things relating to patterns. It has three main components: the resource, the studio which along with other selective creatives produces a variety of patterned objects, and the online shop, which sells such items. In addition to these three areas, the website hosts a number of other features and basically acts an extremely strong inspiration. We admire what is being done at Patternity and definitely credit it as a massive helping hand in the design process of Memory Lane. Here are a few examples of the amazing imagery available on the site but please go to patternity.co.uk as we're sure you'll find it a valuable resource as well.

SCREAMING MIMI'S
Gonna be in the Big Apple anytime soon? If so, along with the Empire State Building, Central Park and Auntie Anne's Pretzels, we've got another must see - Screaming Mimi's. Screaming Mimi's is an inspiring vintage store that can make its way with high street stores anytime! The visual merchandising is gorgeous; it's practically the Selfridges of vintage store window displays! Stated back in the 1970s, Screaming Mimi's has gone on to extend its range from the 50s to the 90s and has also added an additional private penthouse of designer finds, making it a hot spot for celebrities, designers, locals and tourists alike. Unfortunately for us, in addition to all the other great things that Screaming Mimi's offers, they also have an amazing hi-tech website that prevents their pictures getting copied. That's ok though, that just gives all the more reason for you to pop over to screamingmimi's.com or better still, next time york in New York, pop down to 382 Lafayette Street; either way it's a trip not to be missed!

LA VINTAGE
In what seems like a complete contradiction to all that vintage stands for, there is a growing trend in online vintage stores. One of the latest to join the bunch, LA Vintage. Officially launched in March 2009, the company has been in the works around 1992 when owner Murtuza H. moved to LA and started brokering containers of second hand goods sourced from a variety of rag houses to economically poor countries such as Mexico and Africa. (basically he was green before it was cool) From there he went on to form his own rag house and eventually LA Vintage was born. With one off pieces dating back to the 50s, LA Vintage has something for everyone and the hand selected authentic vintage pieces and a contemporary layout and aesthetic make the shopping online experience unparalleled! Don't believe us though, make a visit to lavintage.com to see for yourself!

WE WANT WILDFOX
Again, a self explanatory title! Wildfox is the most ahhhmazing new brand to come from across the pond in recent time (in my opinion of course), and we want it in our wardrobes ASAP!!! Created by childhood friends Kimberly Gordon and Emily Faulstich, the retroesque line credits sleepovers, beautiful books, fairies, dreams, vintage t-shirts and their friendship as inspirations for their for their designs. Wildfox, based on love and having fun, was born in response to the epidemic of things getting too serious in the world of fashion. All this sounding a little reminiscent of the 70s? Yeah we thought so too; however its when you see some of the actual clothes and styling of the shoots that your gonna really feel swept back into the early 70s. And as the icing on the cake get this " they sew their hearts on their sleeves and spread peace and love through design". Here's a sneak peak at some of the goods but please don't stop here, check them out over at wildfoxcouture.com too!

THE GLORY DAYS
If you think about London in the 60s and 70s there is almost no way that rock couldn't come to mind as it was a part of the core anatomy of 'Swinging London'. In turn, it would be impossible to think of British rock and not think of Top of the Pops. Top of the Pops is to date one of the longest running British television series in history, running from the early 60s until 2006. During its impressive run, it acted as benchmark by which success was measured an British and overseas acts alike yearned to earn a spot on its stage. From 1964 to 1973 Harry Goodwin was the show's official photographer and thus gained the exclusive shots that would go on to become some of the most iconic in rock history. The Victoria and Albert Museum is displaying Goodwin's photography in the exhibition, "My Generation: The Glory Days of British Rock". The exhibition is on now through October 24 and is also available in a book by the same name. Below are a taste of the photos but beware, they barely tip the iceberg, for the real deal be sure to go and visit the V&A.

A FEW OF FARRAH
In the Icon of an Era section of the 70s issue of our zine, we featured the gorgeous Farrah Fawcett. However, due to not wanting to get sued by Aaron Spelling's estate or anyone else for that matter, we were unable to highlight her true beauty, as we we couldn't use any photos. Luckily, the web offers a little less limitations and so we thought we'd just share with you a few of our favourite Farrah shots. We hope you enjoy!

FESTIVAL FASHION
We're now on the heels of June and that means soon we'll be in the height of festival season. All over the world, summer is recognized and celebrated as the time of year to throw on some Wellies and hit a massive muddy field for some well needed musical madness. However, not all the time does weather woes dictate what one must wear; sometimes its actually hot and sunny and people actually get to dress in their summer best. I don't know if it's the fact that festivals have such a nostalgic vibe to them or what, but a lot of times vintage is the number one trend of festival goers. At the Coachella Festival in California a few weeks ago, retro was all the rave with everyone from celebs to civilians looking like they woke up in a different era and of course we couldn't get enough of this!

THE COBRA SNAKE
Ahhhh, photography, fashion and fun - 3 things that we here at Memory Lane couldn't live without. Over at The Cobra Snake they combine the three harmoniously. The Cobra Snake is a wonderful website featuring mostly photography and a moderate sized online shop, both offering a breath of fresh air in the retro style arena. Also, they have the absolute best in vintage t-shirts which is one of the true loves of my life and to top it off - get this - they even have real live yard sales! Check out thecobrasnake.com, it's awesome!

FADE TO BLACK
Here at Memory Lane, we love to show love and right now we're absolutely loving Fade to Black. Fade to Black is an amazing blog by a Britain born Brooklyn dweller. She works as a fashion designer in the Big Apple and produces amazing photography and illustrations on her off time. She looks like the epitome of a modern day hippie and accentuates the seventies in the clothes she wears and the style of photography she uses. We so heart her! Here are a few examples of her talent but don't stop here - check out fadetoblack.blogspot.com and see what all the fuss is about!

So check us out, follow us and tell a friend about us!Here's a little introduction to the two main contributors, Aimee and Laurie; we hope you like us!
